Account and sign-in
You find your account in the account menu under My account. It has four tabs: Profile, Security, AI and Connections. AI and Connections are covered in the chapters AI service and API.
Getting an account
Accounts come by invitation only. An invitation link shows “You get access to the client …” and the button Create account and join: a sign-in name (2 to 64 characters, letters without accents, digits, dot, hyphen, underscore) and a password of at least twelve characters. If you are signed in already, the button reads Join as …; with a sign-in provider, Accept with …. Invitations by name you accept in the account menu under New for you.
You sign in on the page Sign in with name and password, or with a button such as Sign in with authentik when the operator has set up a provider. After ten wrong passwords the account waits a quarter of an hour. A sign-in lasts 30 days.
Profile
The Display name is how others see you; you keep signing in with your sign-in name. Upload a picture adds a picture, a photo from your phone for instance. It is cut to a square, and nothing of the file but the picture is kept: no place, no device. Below stand name, role and, if there is one, your mail address.
Security
| Section | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Password | Current password, New password, Password again, then Change password; other browsers have to sign in again afterwards |
| Second factor | set up, renew recovery codes, turn off |
| Sign-in provider | Link with the provider, after which both work; Unlink separates them again |
| Other browsers | Sign out everywhere else, for example after losing a phone |
For linking, nexbrand asks for your password; it confirms that it is you.
Setting up the second factor
- Click Set up
nexbrand shows a QR code and a key to type in.
- Scan it with the app
Any authenticator app that takes a QR code.
- Confirm
Enter the Code from the app and your password, then Turn on.
- Keep the codes
Eight recovery codes, each valid once and shown only now. Copy them or Save as file, keep them apart from the phone, then I have them.
When signing in, nexbrand asks for the code after the password: six digits, or a recovery code from paper. After five wrong codes you start again with the password.
Settings for you
Under Settings, General you choose the language and the Start page: all clients or the one opened last. Under Look you set light or dark, for this browser.
Pavo saysWhen the recovery codes run low, create new ones while you can still sign in. If the phone is gone and no code is left, the operator can remove your account's second factor.
